Kalpana Chawla : The Inspiration

A posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor Space Medal, NASA Space Flight, and the Distinguished Service Medal from NASA. “Just look at the Earth, watching the stars at night from Earth, just looking at our planet roll by and the speed at which it passes and awe-inspiring, and so many good ideas as they come to mind when to do everything, to do it again is like living a dream - a good sleep - again, “said the first Indian woman to fly with a crew of a U.S. space shuttle, Kalpana Chawla. Born in the small town of Karnal, Haryana, India, this girl had the fire and the fire are very few. His dreams were nothing short of touching the stars and it did, but unfortunately, it soon became one of them. All this, before you part of India and proud. His inspiration? JRD Tata. It is therefore not surprising that Kalpana Chawla had accumulated over 375 hours in space, before the launch of shuttle Columbia tragedy. Kalpana, the youngest of four children, was known for drawing airplanes in drawing competitions and made models of the universe and constellations for the projects of its geography. He earned a degree in aeronautical engineering from Punjab University in 1982 Interestingly, she was the only female student in the batch. She went on to earn an MBA from the University of Texas and a Ph.D. in the field. 1994 brought with them dreams Kalpana had ever seen. NASA has selected a training program for a year to serve as mission specialist on board shuttle missions. This was a great achievement since NASA astronauts selected about 20 every two years from thousands of applicants.
His first space flight in 1996, but was not very smooth. She found her being accused of making mistakes, as the operator of the robotic arm first, which sent a science satellite fell out of control.
6 years later, NASA selected her for the mission STS-107 Columbia, a flight of 16 days dedicated to science and research. Part of the study was also to gather information to cure cancer and other diseases, to study cell behavior in a lower gravity environment. The space shuttle was launched on January 16, 2003 and was due to land on February 1, 2003. However, the crash ends of the earth, the shuttle exploded in Texas, just 16 minutes before the scheduled landing time. To the shock ends of the earth, the shuttle exploded in Texas, just 16 minutes before the scheduled landing time.
Thus, Kalpana left the world after 41 years. It was really a great tragedy that will be remembered for generations to come. It was a sad end met by one of the bravest girls in India. On February 5, 2003, then Prime Minister of India, Atal Behari Vajpayee, the first weather satellite name in India as “Kalpana-1. He is survived by her husband, Jean-Pierre Harrison, a flight instructor free-lance.
